Irish Autism Action celebrates World Autism Awareness Day, Saturday April 2nd 2011
We are currently seeking submissions and ideas for World Autism Awareness Day 2012, April 2nd.
National Concert Hall, Dublin took part in the 'Light it up blue' campaign for World Autism Awareness day 2011.
The fourth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2011. Every year, autism organizations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.
On Friday April 1st and Friday April 8th, Irish Autism Action will be holding bucket collections throughout the country to help raise valuable funds for the organisation. We would greatly appreciate your support if you see our collectors out on the streets! If anyone would like to volunteer an hour or two of their time to help out, please call Colette on 044 9342576.
IAA will be holding a number of other events throughout April, Autism Awareness Month:
To mark World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, IAA will be lighting up Dublin landmarks in blue on the evening of April 1st – The Convention Centre, The O2 and the Grand Canal Theatre – as a part of the international Light It Up Blue campaign. Dublin will join other cities across the world, with prominent buildings including the Empire State Building in New York City, turning their lights blue for the campaign and to raise awareness of Autism. - Charity Golf Classic in Manchester on Friday April 1st. This golfing event, which will take place in the Worsley Park Hotel, will have special guest golfers/footballers Kevin Moran, Gary Gillespie, Jason McAteer coming along on the day. Celebrity football match between Darndale FC and John Aldridge Legends XI on Sunday April 3rd at Morton Stadium in Santry. Players will include European Cup winners Alan Kennedy & Phil Neal, Manchester United Legend Clayton Blackmore, along with former Irish International Jason McAteer, and Don Hutchinson. Darndale have also announced that there will be a number of well known faces on their squad including boxers Bernard Dunne and Jim Rock, as well as Dublin’s very own Pat Gilroy, Stephen Cluxton and Bernard Brogan. The match is being held in order to raise funds for Irish Autism Action and promises to be a great day out. Tickets are still available by calling 044 9331609. For more info, click here
Invasion Dublin event takes place in the RDS from the 23rd to 25th April. Invasion Dublin is Ireland’s largest celebration of all things Star Wars. Star Wars fans, sci-fi enthusiasts and families alike will have the opportunity to view the highest calibre props and backdrops by Emerald Garrison, as well as amazing life-size Star Wars sets including Y Wing fighter, Scout Walker Skiff Emperors Throne Room Set , Cantina Band Set with Band Members a fully working R2D2, Droid Deathstar, Wall Set and much more. Irish Autism Action are the 2011 Charity Partner for Invasion Dublin Experience and part of the proceeds of this event will go to them. For more details, click here
Carlow Charity Festival. There will be a charity festival taking place in Bagnelstowen, Co. Carlow on April 15th, 16th and 17th. The festival will have a pitch and putt competition and fashion show on the Friday, a celebrity football match and gala dinner on the Saturday and a fun run on the Sunday. All proceeds raised will go to Irish Autism Action.
Charity fundraising night in The Martello, Bray on Saturday April 2nd. Dress up in your old school uniform and get ready to be taken back to your schooldays with hit music from the 70's, 80's & 90's!
