Kevin Whelan - CEO

I started with IAA in 2004 and have extensive experience in the disability sector. I have a masters in business administration specialising in Strategic Management. The drive for me in working with the organisation is the opportunity I get each day to help somebody who is distressed and at a loss as to know what to do in the best interest of their family member on the spectrum. My big regret is that we cannot help everyone as quickly as we would like to. The good will of the Irish people in the corporate sector is what funds our organisation and if only we could get some government support we could make such a huge difference on top of what we currently do. I can be contact via e-mail kevin@autismireland.ie

Sarah McEnerney-Buckley – PA to CEO

My job consists of arranging the CEO’s diary and providing administrative support within the office. In the past I have provided administrative support to various aspects of the organisation which I have enjoyed immensely. Also the production of our quarterly newsletter is a joint responsibility between Fundraising Officer, Information Officer and CEO. It’s a busy and varied role. No two days are ever the same. You can contact me on 044 93 31609 or e-mail kevin@autismireland.ie

Colette Charles – Fundraising Officer

I work as Fundraising and Events Co-ordinator in the national office of Irish Autism Action. I have been working with the charity for 6 years. I am the charity’s contact person for all things fundraising related and am responsible for co-ordinating the various fundraising events that IAA run throughout the year, such as golf days, Balls, race days, marathons, bucket collections etc. I am the person to contact if you need help with your own regional fundraising event. I also work closely with all of IAA’s corporate partners and various sponsors. You can contact me on 044 93 42576 or e-mail colette@autismireland.ie

Niall Murphy - Administration & Events

I joined Irish Autism Action in June 2010 to assist with the 32 Marathon Challenge, which was a wonderful experience and a very rewarding fund-raiser for our Charity. Autism is a charity that is very close to my heart as I have a son (Ryan) with autism. He attends Saplings school in Mullingar. My background in Fund-raising comes from holding the position of treasurer and Fund Raising coordinator of the Saplings Mullingar Parent’s Association from 2005 – 2008. I enjoy working on events, in terms of the preparation and planning process and it is a great feeling when they are successful. I do hope that I can continue to play my part in whatever way that I can to help Irish Autism Action continue to grow. You can contact me at 044 93 30710 or e-mail niall@autismireland.ie

Rachel Cassen – Advocacy Co-ordinator

I have been working with Irish Autism Action for over a year now as Advocacy Coordinator. This is a new role and involves setting up the service nationally with a team of regional advocates. The Advocacy team meets every six weeks for group supervision and support and as the group approaches the end of the first year of their studies we will begin a hand over of casework. As a parent of a young adult with AS it gives me great satisfaction to know that our advocates not only possess professional expertise, but also carry with them in their work a personal understanding of the challenges that people with autism face. This makes our service unique and we should celebrate this. The best thing about my role with Irish Autism Action is the lovely people I get to meet and the chance to give something back. You can email me at rachel@autismireland.ie

Yvonne Lucas - Counsellor

I provide a counselling service at Solas for parents and family members of children with ASD and Adults with ASD themselves. I enjoy building relationships with my clients and seeing how they gain new perspectives and ways of being through personal therapy – it is really rewarding to see and a privilege to be a part of. You can contact me on 01 8531572 or e-mail counselling@autismireland.ie

Jennifer Cullinan  - Social Media

I am Mum to three children, one of whom has autism. I first joined IAA when my son was diagnosed in 2009. I started off as a member of the online parent support group on Facebook. My involvement and interest in IAA, and all things autism, grew and led me to take up the Social Media position in July 2010. You can contact me by e-mail jen@autismireland.ie if you have a story for the blog or something for facebook.
